2. What genre do you read the most? I love to read because ___________________ .
I read fantasy the most, I believe. I love to read because I like stories and the way they unlock my imagination.
3. What was your favorite book read last year? What’s your favorite book so far this year?
My favorite book last year was probably JINX by Sage Blackwood. This year, so far, it is BLACK DOG by Rachel Neumeier.
4. What is your favorite blogging resource?
Other bloggers. If I don't know how to do something, there's probably someone else who has done it before and has either written a tutorial or will talk about it. Plus, bloggers have their ears to the ground about all the best books.
5. What book would you love to see as a movie?Let's discuss the literature questions in the comments!
I would love to see a SCORPIO RACES movie, especially one done with mostly practical special effects.
Literature
What do you think of when you think of literature? Classics, contemporary, genre, or something else entirely? We are leaving this one up to you to come up with and share the literature that you want to chat about the most. Happy Armchair BEA! I don't typically read tons of fantasy (have the be in the right mood), but I'm reading and LOVING Patrick Rothfuss's The Name of the Wind right now. Amazing book! Have you read it?
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it! I bought a copy on a friend's recommendation awhile ago, but haven't had the time. That's the bad thing about long books. But I'll get to it eventually!
DeleteSo nice to meet you! I don't read much fantasy, but now I know where to come looking for reviews! Love your QUILTBAG list--book marked it for future reference. When it comes to Literature, with a cap L, I tend to think of classics, books that at least a few generations of readers have sought out and enjoyed or learned from for whatever reason(s).

DeleteI think books can be instant literature, but the mind does leap to older works first. I find it really interesting how the canon changes though. One hundred years later, an author might gain in popularity.
I read a lot of fantasy too :)! It's wonderful to escape to all these unique words filled with magic and creatures.

DeleteI am a big fantasy fan as well, although over the years I've broaden which genres I read and nowadays I read quite some other genres as well. I agree other bloggers are a great blogging resource, when I moved my blog from blogger to wordpress I've found some blogs with a great tutorial which made the switch so much easier.
ReplyDeleteI've always read widely, but I think fantasy (and sci-fi) will always be my favorites. It's good to hear that you found helpful tutorials - I know I've considered moving to wordpress.
DeleteNose Graze and Parajunkee both have a great tutorial for moving to wordpress. So if you ever decide to make the switch be sure to check out their sites, they really helped me. I am still happy to make the switch, although it was a stressfull time and it's a lot of work to actually switch.
DeleteOoo... a SCORPIO RACES movie! I have chills just thinking about it. I hope someone like Jim Jarmusch would do it, so it can turn out beautiful and dreamlike... (I'm thinking about ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE right now, as it was just... gorgeous!)

ReplyDeleteI tried starting Scorpio Races once and just wasn't in the mood for it - and haven't gone back to it since. My SNL raves about it though! As for blogger tutorials - there are so many who do this and it's such a big help! I'm partial to the Caffeinated Book Reviewer! She's like my book blogging Mom. :)

I think of literature as any work with timeless value. Everything else is just a book.
ReplyDeleteBut an entertaining book can have timeless value, even if it is a little trashy.
DeleteI used to be really into fantasy, but for a while my reading list has skewed toward contemporary. The most fantastical thing I read last year was "The Mapmaker's War" by Ronlyn Domingue. I'm branching out a bit more now, taking on more fantasy stories.
