Content of In Bed With Books includes:

Reviews: I review a variety of genres, including YA (male- or female-oriented), fantasy (traditional/high, urban/low), SF (hard and soft), horror, literary fiction, chick lit, general fiction, and some non-fiction. To request a review, please send an e-mail to inbedwithbooks AT yahoo DOT com including the title, author name, blurb, and other relevant information.

I review romance and erotica for TGTBTU. Review requests for those genres should be submitted to the site owner according to site policy.

I do not review self-published novels or urban fiction. I tend to avoid historical fiction as well.

My reviews include a summary of the novel's premise and my honest reaction to the style and content. I provide links to the author's site and to Amazon. The majority of my reviews are positive since I tend not to waste time on books I do not enjoy.

I am in college. The speed in which I review depends on how busy I am and how interesting I find the book, among other things. I do work to review all requests.

Interviews: My interviews are generally ten questions long. I prefer to interview an author only if I've read and recommend their novel. Please contact me at inbedwithbooks AT yahoo DOT com to arrange an interview.

Guest blogs: I am willing to host both authors and other bloggers. I can provide prompts. Please e-mail me (see above) to arrange a guest blog.

Contests/giveaways: I love hosting contests and giveaways, preferably for books/authors I am familiar with. I try to promote each contest and giveaway on sites independent of IBWB. Please e-mail me (see above) to arrange a contest and/or giveaway.

Compensation: I do not receive, nor would I accept, monetary compensation for my reviews. Review copies may be provided by the author, publisher, or a publicist. I keep the majority of the review copies I receive. ARCs will not be sold, though they may be given away, either to friends or in a contest. Final copies may be resold or given away. The money from resold final copies is used to mail contest prizes and to send books to other blogger reviewers. These free copies do not guarantee a positive review. I reserve the right to write negative reviews.

Reviews include a link to Amazon. The affliate ID belongs to the site owner of TGTBTU, who uses the money to ship books to contest winners and the site reviewers. It is not kept for personal gain.

I do not host advertising.

Book Review Policy Update, Summer 2009

I've told many people this already, but I wanted to announce it on the blog as well: if your address for me says I live at BLD #126, then it is no longer valid. That is my campus addres and I will not be returning to the same location next August. I do not yet have the address for my apartment. If you need it, please contact me for my permanent address. (Need to know if you have the correct address? It should say I like at Birch.)

I will be in England from 11 July - 15 August. I am not sure yet how this will affect my acceptance of review copies. Likely I won't accept any until a couple of weeks before I'm due to return to the US.

Because of this trip, my theme from June to August will be England, specifically Shakespeare and Jane Austen. (I am going to study them, not for fun. Not that I don't plan to have fun.) If you're an author or publicist representing a book set in England or relation to Austen and/or Shakespeare, I'd love to hear from you. (The Matter of Britain counts too, since I am an Arthur fangirl.) I already have many books scheduled for the theme, but I am still looking to add in more. On the other hand, I'll probably be turning more book requests away. This is more because I'm receiving more requests than because I plan to review less.

I will update my policy again in the fall or if anything changes.

Book Review Policy

I felt it was past time I write up a policy, so here I go. If anyone thinks I'm forgetting something, tell me in the comments.

Genres I Can't Review: I review romance and erotica exclusively for The Good, The Bad and The Unread. If you want a book reviewed in those genres, you should contact the site owner according to site policy.

eBooks: I will review eBooks, but it takes me longer because I don't have an eReader and thus cannot carry the book around to read in my free time.

Self-published: I've reviewed self-published in the past, but I'm going to stop. I buy self-pubbed when I know the author's work, but I've been burned enough not to accept self-pubbed willy-nilly.

About my reviews: My reviews do not include the publisher's blurb, but I try to include necessary summary within the review's text. I provide links to the author's site and to the book's listing on Amazon (through the cover picture). The majority of my reviews are positive because I tend to put down books I don't enjoy, but I will be honest if something doesn't work for me.
