I love Sherry Thomas. She's one of my favorite historical romance authors. (Just read one of my reviews.) And now she's making her YA debut, and it's going to be fantasy! I think her lush, descriptive style will lend itself very well to fantasy.
THE BURNING SKY will be available September 17, 2013 and you can preorder it now on Amazon.
It all began with a ruined elixir and an accidental bolt of lightning…
Iolanthe Seabourne is the greatest elemental mage of her generation—or so she's being told. The one prophesied for years to be the savior of The Realm. It is her duty and destiny to face and defeat the Bane, the greatest mage tyrant the world has ever known. A suicide task for anyone let alone a sixteen-year-old girl with no training, facing a prophecy that foretells a fiery clash to the death.
Prince Titus of Elberon has sworn to protect Iolanthe at all costs but he's also a powerful mage committed to obliterating the Bane to revenge the death of his family—even if he must sacrifice both Iolanthe and himself to achieve his goal.
But Titus makes the terrifying mistake of falling in love with the girl who should have been only a means to an end. Now, with the servants of the Bane closing in, he must choose between his mission and her life.

I like the summary but Sherry Thomas? I'd read it anyway. I've only read two of her books so far, but her writing is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm sold from the author name alone too. Loving YA fantasy is just a bonus.
DeleteWow-HR to YA Fantasy sounds like quite the change but I'm interested to give it a chance.
ReplyDeleteI love when authors explore outside their genres. I like to give them a chance too. Why force them to keep writing the same books? (Although Sherry Thomas is still writing HR, thankfully.)
DeleteI can't wait for this one either! It sounds fantastic! NEW FOLLOWER
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for this one, too. That cover is amaze-balls. Great pick!

Epic is the word for it.
DeleteI'm so incredibly excited for this one, and I didn't know the author had written other books before. Just the synopsis alone had me hooked. Now I'll have to check out her adult books since you love them so much. :-) Fabulous choice, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Glad I could point you out to her awesome romances.
DeleteI guess I kind of glossed over your reviews of Sherry Thomas, since I don't read historical romance much...but this sounds awfully good!
ReplyDeleteThey were posted on The Good, The Bad and the Unread, which is probably why you didn't see them.
DeleteI like the name from the MC :D And the cover is stunning.
