I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
Thanks to Penguin, I have 2 Wintergirls ARCs to give away. Shipping is restricted to the US and no PO boxes.
This postcard showed up on PostSecret while I was reading the book. I love a good coincidence.
At first I was going to repeat a "what you ate" requirement. After finishing the book, I decided I had a better idea. Tell me one thing nice you did for yourself, recently, and didn't feel guilty for. If you can't think of one, promise to do something indulgent soon.
To get extra entries, link to this contest, follow my blog, or comment on my review of WINTERGIRLS. It will be posted sometime this week.
The contest ends 2/28 and winners will be announced that night.
ETA: February 22-28 is National Eating Disorder Awareness week.

I bought a ton of books for myself recently and have decided that I don't care if anyone judges me for it! There are worse addictions that I could have!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog!
I put the link in my contest list! http://to-little-time.blogspot.com/
I did my nails, pedicure, facial...etc...was a wonderful treat that I forget to do for myself all the time

Marta's Meanderings
I'm buckling down and paying off my debt so I can get my ass out of here. It means, really, no indulgences in the process but in the bigger picture I'll be in California. A much better payoff!
ReplyDeleteI already follow your blog and I'll be posting a link in the sidebar of mine.
I bought myself some books that I had been wanting to read for a while. I had been holding off since before the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI've been in bed all weekend. On the laptop. Despite how my best friend tells me to go do something, I refuse. Some me time is doing me some good.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog.

I just spent the weekend in VA Beach with some of my oldest friends and for three wonderful days didn't worry about work or bills or anything.

I really liked Speak and would love a chance to read this. Already a follower, btw. Can't wait to read the review.
ReplyDeleteOne thing nice...I have four books in my Amazon cart to purchase!
Oooh I saw that postsecret, have you seen this weeks? My two favorites are the one about smoking and the one that says "fu** I love you" or something along those lines. I applied for colleges, at first I was thinking I was going to take a year off but changed my mind
ReplyDeleteI already follow you :)
I'm going to the bookstore later to treat myself to some new books:)

I try to do something nice for myself at least once a month. This month it was new undie sets! No one will see them, but I can't wait to wear them!! Hope it's not TMI!
ReplyDeleteI have bought myself books over the past couple of weeks. People keep telling me I am an addict but I don't care.
ReplyDeleteI already follow you blog.
Hm, that's a tough one. Honestly. Well, hopefully I will buy myself a new book soon without feeling bad about it! =)
ReplyDeleteI blogged it here

My indulgence? Popcorn is my favorite food and I let myself have it for dinner the other night while finishing up a book! I blogged about the contest here:
ReplyDeletehttp://purplg8r-somanybooks.blogspot.com/2009/02/contests-february-16-2009.html
Thanks for the contest! It's a great idea to remind ourselves to be sweet to ourselves...thanks for that reminder.
ReplyDeleteSomething nice I do for myself (at least weekly) is buy a totally indulgent latte - a Caramel White Mocha (with whip cream) to be exact. I know - deeeeeelish!

ReplyDeleteI stopped reading a book that was making me anxious and depressed [difficult for me to admit, and harder to do something about].
ReplyDeleteI did two things actually. . . I went to a hair and day spa to have my hair done - and I NEVER do this. And then I went to a needlepoint shop and splurged! Bought two new canvases (and they aren't cheap!) but they were on sale :)
ReplyDeletekherbrand(at)comcast(dot)net
I got my hair done:)

I took a two and a half hour nap on Sunday! :)
ReplyDeleteThe quote at the top of this post brought back memories. I remember when my older sister was in high school, she said something similar about what it looked like to have a perfect figure. She didn't have an eating disorder, I just thought it was amazing how girls internalize such things.
i bought myself a bag of hershey kisses for v-day.
ReplyDeletetheodoragroger@yahoo.com
I buy myself books all the time!

I ate the two brownies that I'd made that did not fit into the bin of brownies I'd baked for my son and his college hallmates. I ate them and did not feel the need to add extra exercise minutes onto the day.
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious.
I read in bed and then took a nap!!!
ReplyDeleteI took my notebook to a coffee shop and wrote for an hour and a half while sipping a big mocha. I'm a mom of two young kids to that me-time was heavenly, and I didn't feel guilty at all! They were in my husband's very capable hands.
ReplyDeleteI bought myself 2 books on sale at Borders last Saturday...even though I've been trying to cut down on how much money I spend on books.
ReplyDeleteI'm following your blog : )
And it makes me happy you're keeping track of your books read in 2009--I'm doing that too. I have an Excel doc that I'm saving that info in b/c I'm a nerd!
I pre-ordered a Kindle 2!!
ReplyDeleteI went home yesterday and finished reading an epic Harry Potter fanfiction I've been reading for ages. I didn't do a single bit of schoolwork and I can't possibly feel bad because this week has had a ridiculously high portion of time spent on school things and I think a one day break is reasonable. Plus, it was really good fanfiction. =D
ReplyDeleteAfter student teaching today, I came home and took a nap. It was the first nap I've taken in a long time and it was fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLiddypooL2(at)aol(dot)com
I made chocolate cupcakes with raspberry frosting--exactly the treat I was looking for!
ReplyDeleteHere's the recipe: http://honeyandjam.blogspot.com/2009/02/devils-food-cupcakes-with-raspberry.html
I bought some books this week, in fact, I might have bought too many, but I think I deserved it. Also I'm going to Disneyworld in about three weeks and that's all for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower, too. Thanks.
And I'll add you to my blog roll.
I decided to take next term off from school, save up money, and travel. Today I turned in the form finalizing it. ^^
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that comes to mind is that last night I let myself stay up late playing video games... but I fully plan on spending a chunk of money on books on Saturday, so that'll be an indulgence, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest!
Nice thing: I accepted a job offer for a summer job that I know is a perfect fit, which means I'll need to put my fulltime job search on hold, and with the free time I'll have in May, I plan to finally take myself to Europe on the trip that I never got to take because I was so busy doing the "responsible" thing and always working.
ReplyDeleteI came upon your blog today via a post from bookshelves of doom.
I'll post a link on my blog at http://www.librariYAn.blogspot.com.
I recently went on a long overdue shopping spree. =) Awesome contest!!
ReplyDeleteI made some delicious Nutella crepes for myself! Yum.
ReplyDeleteMy kitty died this Sunday. I had two very stiff drinks...rum and mango juice. It helped a little.
ReplyDeleteI found you via bookshelves of doom.
I kissed a boy. I didn't worry about what h would think, or what anyone else would think. And IT ALL WORKED OUT. It was pretty great.
ReplyDelete(and it totally felt like high school, too. heh.)
I sent in my deposit for the college I LOVE but thought I would never be able to afford. :-)
ReplyDeleteI bought the newest Three Days Grace album for myself and have been listening to it for a solid week while my husband rolls his eyes.
ReplyDeleteGood times!
Oh man. I would LOVE a copy of Wintergirls, but... I don't live in the U.S. Ah well, guess I'll have to wait 'til it's on shelves. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to have discovered your blog!
I've just posted this on Win A Book. I recently went clothes shopping for myself, which I NEVER do. What a treat!
ReplyDeleteI treated myself to lunch and a movie yesterday. I'd love to be entered in your contest. milou2ster(at)gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI had a massage on Thursday. 80 minutes of bliss! I posted this on my giveaways page.
ReplyDelete& I subscribe on Google Reader
ReplyDeleteI bought myself a book last week since I had a coupon for $5 off! And I only ended up paying $2 for the book! Thanks for entering me
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower thanks.
ReplyDeleteI just started following, does that count for one nice indulgent thing for me *winks*. I went and spulged on the new adult Stephenie Meyers book the "Host" in hard cover. I normally wait for books to come out in paperback (saves space on overflowing bookshelves).
ReplyDelete(Hugs)Indigo
That's a hard one. Guess I would say that I watched an episode of Ghost Whisper last week even though it was a repeat and even my husband reminded me nicely it was a repeat :D but I was looking forward to it all day so I watched it anyway. And didn't feel quilty about it at all.

I am dying to read this! I told my co-workers I'd be in late Monday morning so I can stay up late and watch the Oscars (one of my favorite things in the world) without having to drag myself into work on 3 hours of sleep the next day.
ReplyDeleteI blogged about the contest here: http://dogearedandwellread.wordpress.com/2009/02/21/win-an-arc-of-wintergirls/
I recently bought myself a bunch of books, even though the money could have gone to other things. I don't smoke or drink, so I figure I'm owed an addiction. This is one of my favorite authors, so count me in please.
ReplyDeletetiffanyak1986(at)hotmail(dot)com
I took time to blowdry my hair instead of cleaning the house while it air dried :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
I spoiled myself this week by buying (and this sounds odd) some silly socks. This sounds weird, but wearing really crazy socks just makes my outlook better. No one sees them but me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance. :)

Besides buying books, I rarely do anything good for myself. However, after a stressful week with a very sick dog and having to worry about him while at work, I chose to stay home with him while my DH went with a group of friends for lunch and to a car show. It was very heart calming to stay home, read and cuddle with the dog who is feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteI got my hair cut & colored. I also bought some new clothes & shoes. :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I spent all day yesterday rereading Stephen King;s Black House.

I have just become a follower, and I think I will be falling in love with your blog, starting with my admiration for your blog's name.
ReplyDeleteI went running this morning, and despite the pain of running and the cold winter weather and everything else that there is to dislike about this act, I was happy to be out there, unplugged and having a little bit of time to think and just be completely on my own. (I even blogged about it: http://susanefine.com)
I finally replaced my old slippers with the soles I have to stick back inside the fabric. We headed out to LLBean and I got some great suede and fuzzy flippers for my feet. My feet are always cold, but I won't have that problem now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. savvyverseandwit AT gmail DOT com

ReplyDeleteI'm already a google reader follower.
Thanks for a great contest! For my indulgent thing, I camped out on the couch all day yesterday and read!
ReplyDeleteA nice thing I did for myself lately is I spent Friday night in my local Borders just browsing and buying with no guilt!!!! The no guilt part is the nice thing ....my husband is out of town and I felt like I owed it to myself to enjoy my Friday night!
ReplyDeleteLove the books I purchased as well!!
Thanks

I put down a deposit on a summer program I'm doing in Oxford - expensive, but I didn't feel guilty!
ReplyDeleteI took the time to read a book cover to cover the same day I got it.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at pretty things on Etsy, but I usually try to behave and don't buy anything. Last week I got some bad news and was feeling particularly down... so I went ahead and bought the prettiest ring I've been looking at for weeks! It was a little more than I would have spent, but so worth it. :) It arrived in the mail yesterday, and I felt so happy wearing it. It's important to take care of yourself! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win... I love Laurie Halse Anderson!
